Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management
I welcome you all to the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, the first of its kind in Sub Saharan Africa. I congratulate you warmly on your admission into this very unique Department where both staff and students work together as a team and family. Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, University of Ibadan is the flagship Department in all areas of aquaculture and Fisheries Management training in Nigeria and Africa.
We are African Union Centre of Excellence in Aquaculture and Inland Fisheries and also have a good relationship with many other International Organizations. The growing concerns for sustainable aquaculture and utilisation of aquatic resources, the African Blue Economy Strategy (ABES) have placed a greater responsibility on us as scholars in fisheries resources management and blue economy training.
We are committed to excellence and encourage our students to soar in their quest for knowledge. We have a conducive learning environment with classrooms, indoor and field laboratories. Our staff- Academic and non-academic are friendly and always ready to help and guide our students when needed.
Our training is unique in that we provide opportunities for entrepreneurial skills development which distinguishes our students from others. Our students have excelled in many areas of human and academic endeavour and many are employers of labour. We are committed to continuous curriculum development to meet the current and future demands for industry, global relevance and demand for our graduates.
