Olukayode Ogunsanwo is a Professor of Wood Utilisation in the Department of Forest Production and Products, University of Ibadan. He started his academic career as An Assistant Lecturer on 19 May 1997, became Lecturer II in 2000, Lecturer I in 2003, Senior Lecturer in 2006 and rose to the rank of Professor on 1 October, 2011. Professor Ogunsanwo has put up 29 years of service as a professional forester and garnered over 20 years of teaching and research experience at the university. He served as coordinator of post graduate programme at the Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ibadan, Nigeria between June 2005 and October 2009. He was the Pioneer Coordinator, Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Programme (EPNARP), at the Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan, from 2010 to 2014; Head of Wood and Fibre Science Unit of the Department of Forest Resources Management, University of Ibadan and currently the Pioneer Head of the Department of Forest Production and Products in the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He has been a member of University of Ibadan Senate since 2000 and has served the University of Ibadan in various capacities at Council and Senate committee levels. Professor Ogunsanwo was Assistant Warden, Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, 2004-2009 and Hall Master, Tafawa Balewa Hall, University of Ibadan, 2014-2018.
Professor Ogunsanwo is a life member and the National Secretary of Forestry Association of Nigeria (FAN), a member of the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), Commonwealth Forestry Association, CFA, International Union of Forestry Research Organisation, IUFRO, member, Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry of Nigeria (TAPPIN), member Competence Platform on Energy Crop and Agroforestry Systems for Arid and Semi-Arid Ecosystems-Africa (COMPETE) as well as the African Forest Forum AFF.
Professor Ogunsanwo has supervised 41 B.Sc. projects, 26 M.Sc. dissertations and10 Ph.D. theses, with over 100 publications in reputable outlets within and outside Nigeria.
He is a member of the National University Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel and the National Forestry Development Committee (NFDC). He is a Consultant to United Nations Development Programme, UNDP, United Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP, Swedish International Development Agency, SIDA and the Food and Agriculture Organization, FAO. Ogunsanwo is an external examiner to several universities within and outside Nigeria. As a team player, he has participated in a number of research and development projects both as team leader and as project collaborator within and outside Nigeria.
